– Benjamin Franklin, Sept. 17, 1787 in his speech before the Constitutional Convention just before signing the final draft of the constitution.

 

The word “Democracy” or “democratic” never appeared anywhere in the founding documents:

 

 The Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776

 

 The Constitution Created‎: ‎September 17, 1787

 

 The Bill of Rights September 25, 1789

 

 The Articles of Confederation adopted Nov. 17, 1777
